While speaking at a recent business meeting, a colleague of mine injected this thought into our post-meeting Q&A session: “A rising tide lifts all ships.” Powerful! Let’s think about it… As an entrepreneur we are typically leading a team or at least having direct influence on a larger audience. In network marketing specifically, I have seen many instances where a single Associate or a group of Associates are intensely working their business and this soon becomes contagious! Before long, the entire organization has become infused with new energy and activity; the rising tide of one is now lifting many.
It comes as no surprise that organizations and teams with great energy produce great results. I would challenge you, whether you are leading a group of 1 or 100, your group will mirror what YOU are doing. If you want to have success you need to become the success that you desire.
What You Can Do Now To Create Energy!

To move your team or organization to heightened activity and prosperity, there are a few things that we can implement now to put us on the path to achieve our desired outcome.
1. Develop A Team Name and Vision Statement
What is the identity of your organization and where are you going. Make sure both your name and vision statement are upbeat and energizing, while also reflecting your core values. The vision statement clearly articulates the ultimate destination at which your team seeks to arrive.
2. Access Both Individual and Team Strengths
Where do you or the team currently excel? What are your strengths? What are your opportunities? Take a quick inventory of the critical skills necessary for success in your field or industry. Pick just one or two areas of development that would have the most immediate impact and focus your efforts here. Read books, listen to audio CDs, attend seminars, seek out leaders who already possess the skills you desire to acquire.
3. Set Goals
If you really want to energize a team, set some goals. Goals motivate people to take ACTION. Keep your goals realistic and attainable, but also set them high enough to stretch yourself and that of your team. Also set a timeline to attain your goals; include check-in metrics to evaluate your progress as well as an end-point. When set appropriately, goals create a sense of energy that will draw team members toward a desired destination.
4. Take a Team Photo
Let’s be real, people love seeing images of themselves! Team photos are essential in helping to promote an organizations identity and cohesion. Too many times people underestimate the power of photographs. If your team is “small,” a photo will remind you to increase the numbers! 😉
5. Recruit New Team Members
There’s no question that recruiting new team members can infuse new energy into a stagnant organization. Keep in mind; you want to attract business builders, people who are self-starters, self-motivated and big thinkers! Sound obvious? It is, but consider when you recruit the “right” person, a team can take a huge step forward; recruit the “wrong” person and you will pound another nail in the coffin. You want to recruit talent and the best way is to recruit UP! You want to identify and reach out to the most successful, influential and networked people you know.
